Morning walk down the Riverside.

Image
I have 2 weeks off from work, and all I want to do is celebrate Christmas and just lounge and do alot of nothing. Well going swimming, getting massages, going to the movies kinda counts as nothing no? Today morning I woke up and decided to go down to the Riverside here in Phnom Penh...have breakfast, read a book and maybe walk around. I have always wanted to try out the breakfast buffet at The Mekong bar and Restaurant, so I headed on there. The buffet costs $2.75 and it included all you can eat eggs(omelets, sunny side up and scrambled) toast, baguette, fresh fruits (2 kinds) Chocolate croissants and other baked thingys, Fried rice, toast, jam and butter, coffee, tea, orange juice and lime juice. I thought mmhh its a good deal. They serve breakfast from 8am-11am. The food wasn't bad but it's also not amazing. Especially the eggs..they were all pre-made, so they kinda got soggy. I sat there eating and people watching (obviously I had on my huge sunglasses)

Chill Out Monday :)

Happy Holidays to all of you my lovelies wooohooo!!!It's not been all happy for me I'm afraid. I have been sick since Wednesday..grrrr and it has not been fun. I've just been in the house resting and fuming for most of Wednesday to Sunday. But hey, I have been feeling progressively better each day and today I woke up in such a jolly mood...and although I am not quite 100% yet and I still can't drink any alcohol :( I am really thankful that I do not feel like absolute crap on Christmas Eve. And if tomorrow I feel even better than today, then Il enjoy Christmas :) I was a bit worried that I'd be sick all through Christmas. What a beautiful morning it is my dears. It's sunny and the sky was so blue when I got up but now its a bit cloudy-but still beautiful though. I went to the market to get me some fresh fruits. And I was so tempted to sit down at the local coffee place inside the market with other Cambodians, but I didn't. I bought some guavas, bananas and

Free Ice lemon tea :)

Last Sunday I went to the Christmas Fair at the Intercontinental Hotel here in Phnom Penh Cambodia. That's 2 Christmas Fairs so far :) I went with a friend, we first had breakfast around Russian Market, and it was a lovely day. The fair was really good. Different individuals, organisations, shops and boutiques had tables displaying products they were selling. There were different things on display- and all were very very beautiful. Items ranged from scented candles to cool looking metal geckos, but mostly there was jewelry..everywhere..and most of it was hand made. I gotta say, there are some pretty creative people out there. There were so many other things, baby stuff, clothes, ceramics etc etc . How cool are these?Seriously?! Old woman with saggy boobs :) I liked this one. A choir sang Christmas songs and 2 children sang a song in Swahili- what are the odds? It felt so good to understand what they were saying..lol. There was a woman dressed up as santa ..t

So most people here in Cambodia had a week off for the Water Festival holiday...Yay!! What did you guys get upto? I went to Kampot for a few days just to chill out. I did nothing but eat(lots), drink beer(lots of beer) and laze around..it was awesome, there is a big possibility that I gained 5 kilos though :( Ill write a separate post on Kampot. I had a wonderful day yesterday (Saturday) It was a beautiful sunny day :) I met up with a friend and we both went to check out the Christmas fair at Le Duo on st 228. The fair was set for 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was really nice to just walk around from stand to stand and have a look what people had on. It is amazing how creative people are!!Several stands absolutely blew me away....there was everything from hand made jewellery to various very creative baby stuff like baby carriers etc etc, to Christmas decorations, to home made jam (my friend and I tasted ALL the flavors lol) to handbags made from jeans, to various sculptur

My typical Monday morning.

Hello lovelies, I hope you all had a good day.Something happened to me today. You all know I am a kindergarten teacher right? And this year I am teaching 2 year olds,God bless my soul, I love the little cuties though :). Anyway so today one of my new students put this box shaped toy we have in class over his head and the thing got stuck!!It got stuck around his forehead!!First, I laughed, lol poor kid,but 2 seconds later I was like talking to the kid to calm them down. Then I called my TAs and we sat the kid down and were trying to see how we can get the thing off.. when another student's parent walked in...haha(when kids are late, the parents bring them straight to class) I obviously did not want this parent to see the other kid with a huge box sticking out of his head, so I went up to the door and tried to distract this parent by talking really loud, picking up their kid and asking about their weekend, and moving to the other side coz from where I was standing, the whole drama head in

Hey my lovelies, hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I enjoyed mine,I did nothing crazy, lots of chilling out for sure. Yesterday(saturday) I hang out at The Flicks 2 with a friend and we watched 2 movies for the price of one. Here is the thing I have been to the Flicks (1) lotsa times before but I have never known that the $3.50 one pays is per day and not per movie!!!Basically this means you can watch all the movies showing at either The Flicks 1 or 2 on any given day for only $3.50!!How awesome is this?!!And most importantly how come I just found out ...SMH. Anyway we watched Moonrise Kingdom and Hysteria. Hysteria is about the invention of the first vibrator,,,and it is a must watch,it was so funny and the fact that it's set in London England in the 1880s just made it so much better.I laughed so hard...lol I def see myself spending more time at The Flicks now LOL. Anyway I have to mention, it was my first time at The Empire where The Flicks 2 is at and I totally love this cozy lit

Comedy Night Fail..

Image
I have always thought it was a brilliant idea to have stand up comedy gigs in Cambodia...gives us expats something else/different to do.The event is held once every month at Pontoon Club and the sponsors fly in about 2-3 comedians:mostly up and coming sometimes well known comedians,to come and perform in Cambodia. All these comedians are usually hilarious and the few times I have been,I have had lots of fun. This month they had two acts coming down to PP,Matt Price from UK and Augustine Dennis from Ghana! When I saw this I immediately got verrry interested. You see,all the previous comedians have been Westerners telling Western jokes.Actually the crowd too has always been westerners, save for like about 5 Africans (me and my friends) who in Africa we would be referred to as coconuts-which roughly means we are black on the outside and white on the inside..lol ..basically means that we hang out with Western(white)people..and everything else that goes with that..lol. Anyway I was a bit excit
